I was a "premium" subscriber and it was great for my WS 1040 , is it compatible with my incoming TRX 1 ?

The only software available for the TRX series is Whistler's EZ-Scan. Unfortunately, you do not have the selective import capability via software that you did with the 1040 via ARC500 or Win500. You can do a library import in EZ-Scan, but that's based on the downloaded copy of the database in the software, similar to the main database copy that is maintained in Uniden's Sentinel. There is no third party software available for the TRX scanners.

However, even though Premium won't be of the same value with the TRX, it still gives you access to parts of RadioReference limited to subscribers. Among other things, access to parts of the live audio & calls programs of Broadcastify.

Been a while since I've owned a TRX-1 but if I recall correctly EZ Scan library updates don't require an RR account nor a premium sub

Under the File tab in TRX-1 EZ Scan, you have an option to Import from WS-1040/WS-1065.
That might be useful on conventional and, possibly, still current P25 Phase I systems, but not for DMR nor NXDN, which the older scanners could not cope with.

Correct. Premium is not required to maintain the master database in the TRX series, just like it is not a requirement to update the main database in Uniden's Sentinel software.

So basically what i get is, I can use the "Library Import" in EZ Scan and retrieve the RR data base but it's all or nothing ? I can't pick and choose the freqs ?

It’s not as clearly defined as would be ideal, but you can select and import (from the database) only the sites, talk groups, and conventional channels that you want. It takes a little getting used to the process in order to locate exactly what you are looking for, but it can be done.

I can see I have my work cut out for me, I guess as with any new equipment there is a learning curve. But that's fine it'll keep this 72 y/o brain sharp ! Thanks a lot for answering. I'm sure i'll be back with more questions once I receive the radio.

Thank you, but that won't be very helpful to me since some of the frequencies have changed to DMR which the WS1040 can not receive. That is why i upgraded to the TRX1...But thank you for the info.
