I'm looking at the listings and want to be sure here of what I'm reading. Some of the frequency listings have PL or DPL tones listed. Am I correct in assuming that this is only required for TX and not RX? I was thinking about amateur repeaters, where PL tones are only required to transmit, but not to listen.

You have the option of using or not using them in a scanner. It can be an advantage
to separate different users on the same frequency, or reduce the effects of intermod
should it affect you (especially pagers).

I never thought about pagers. I live in a rural area, but travel, so it cannot hurt. Thanks for the response.
