Let's make them publicly elected (like sheriffs) to increase constitutional accountability!

From what I heard on the radio on the way to work...most county police departments are on board with the idea. I'm sure it would be years in the making...but it looks like it's an idea that has traction. It would be the first county-wide police force in the state, they say. We already have numerous regional police forces.
