Can anyone make sense of the mess that is in the database for Davidson County Fire, such as what is actually programmed into the radios and in what zones?

Thanks!

I talked to the radio vendor today at the Fire College he advised me that Davidson County Fire is now on a repeater just like Ems done.

I asked if he could advise me of the input frequency and he didn't want to say.

I done some checking on my own from the database and came up with the input frequency for the Davidson Fire Repeater.

Fire Repeater

Tx: 158.940 Mhz
Rx: 154.160 Mhz

PL: 88.5 Hz

Ems Repeater

Tx: 158.970 Mhz
Rx: 155.235 Mhz

PL: 88.5 Hz

As far as I know the rest of the channels are non repeatered fire ground channels and the other fire repeater on 154.400 Mhz is licensed to the Davidson Co Firemans Association.

I really don't monitor the fireground channels just dispatch. If I need to listen to an incident while in the area I will either grab to scanner or the JT-1000 and program the fireground channel in.

If I can find out more the weekend I will be glad to pass it along.

David,

Thanks for the info!

It looksl ike the database has been cleaned up somewhat since I did any detailed programming. I am frequently in Davidson County, so I like to keep all of the fireground channels programmed in.

What I am mostly trying to figure out is the order of the Fireground channels and what PL is in use. I see that Fireground 02 is listed twice, once as a base station with an 88.5 PL and once as a mobile station with no PL. I also see that the rest of the fireground channels are not listed with a PL. Is this correct, or have they just not been verified? Is there any PL on the traffic channels?

I assume that the Central Fire, Pilot Fire, and Gumtree Fire frequencies are private tactical channels used by those departments?

Jake,

The duplicate channel for Davidson Fire Ch 2 is the talkaround channel. Same as Ch.1 but it does not access the repeater.

The rest of the fireground channels are probably going to be on 88.5 Hz Pl just like the rest of the channels are.

154.205 Mhz is acually not a private channel for Gumtree. It is and actual dispatch channel for them for Forsyth County. Even though there station is in Davidson County they have a district in Forsyth as well.

Same hold true for Mt. Mitchell Fire in Cabarrus County. They also have a district in Rowan County they are dispatched by Rowan County as well.

There are several departments up your way that are dispatched like this. Another would be County Line and Sheffield-Calahan departments in Davie County. They are both dispatched by both Davie and Iredell County.

Julian Fire in Randolph Co., is dispatched by Randolph on VHF and Guilford Co. on Low Band. Same thing goes for Climax Fire in Guilford Co.

Talked to a Julian firefighter today, and he was wearing two pagers. One on VHF and One on Low Band

Mecklenburg was this way till about a year ago. County Fire was on VHF and First Responders was on UHF Med 9, even though the First Responders were in the same department. They finally took up the Med 9 pagers and redone the tones. Now all County dispatching is done across VHF it seems to be working really well. I know the firefighters were tired of trying to keep up and were three pagers. The carry Alpha Pagers as well.

The 153.830 Mhz is a Private channel for Pilot Fire Department. We used it several years ago when I took Firefighter I & II Alarms & Communications. It is also used by Davie County as a fireground channel.

154.130 Mhz is a private channel for Central Fire. I think at one time the channel was also used by Lexington Fire for dispatch as well.

It's crazy, but if it works then that is the only thing that matters.

Hope this helps

David

Jake,

I can't find my list of the Davidson stuff but David is right. Davidson Fire uses the PL of 88.5 for all of the FG channels. I know this isn't much, but I hope it helps. Still looking for my hardcopy book with everything in it. As soon as I find it I'll let ya know.

Thanks !!!
