Most likely to find all the show boss freqs and all the discrete freqs as well will require a search when you get to the show or if your not "proud" and want a quick fix find someone with a scanner and ask. I do if my searches turn up fruitless. In 2003 for the 100 years extravaganza show boss was on 118.000 and 259.200. [/url]http://www.monitoringtimes.com
has a section on the various cilvil and military teams. I see where the T-birds are scheduled to perform and they used 143.850 (am) Diamond, 322.950 for the Solos in Smyrna last May. Also, 141.850 and 235.250 are common for the birds. Good luck.

Hi all,

Thanks for the information. It will be helpful.

Yes, the Thunderbirds will be there this year. Looking forward to seeing them in action again. I'll post what I find frequency wise here.

Thanks again

First show for me.

The wife and I will be attending the Dayton show also. This will be our first show. I was really hoping someone here had a file I could use. After reading all over the place it looks as though they change quite frequently. I guess I will be searching.

I am going to have to brush up on my manual programing for my PRO 97.

I have been using Don's software too long

Hello c_gutta,

Small world. This will be my first Dayton Airshow and I'll be using a PRO 97 as a primary scanner also.

I do not have any files on what you are looking for but I to will be searching also . I have about 100 freqs to punch in so far to try to hear something. I got these from some books I have. If I can help you in anyway please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.

From what I been hearing, were in for a great show this year.

Have a great day

Hello again c_gutta

If you never been to a airshow before then this one is the one to go to. This will be my first time at Dayton but, I seen it may times on TV. Always wanted to go there but, never did for some reason.

Another airshow coming up next month close to your area is the Wings of Victroy Airshow at the Fairfield County Airport in Lancaster, Ohio. I have been to this airshow many times over the past couple of years and it's great. This airshow will be Aug 20 and 21. More information on this airshow can be found at http://www.historicalaircraftsquadron.com/

Thanks for that info. We will definantly be checking that one out too. Last year around that same time in August, we were on our way to a cabin in the Hocking Hills, Hocking County. We passed that airshow. We went over and tried to check some things out. Since we hadn't planned for it and had no idea what was going on, we didn't stay long at all. We didn't pay for admission either. Just stopped to be nosey for a second.
This one would be a good one to take the 12 year old daughter.

Thanks again.

Yes c_gutta,

The airshow at Lancaster is a great one. Lots of World War II aircraft and some current military aircraft. They have had a U.S. Airforce B 1 Lancer bomber fly over in the past. Also, some aircraft at dayton this year are going to be at Lancaster also.

If you need any frequencies to any of the shows, just ask.

Have a great one

On a sad note

The line of of the Dayton Airshow has changed. Two pilots that crashed and were killed at the airshow in Canada over the weekend were to perform at this weekends Dayton Airshow.

The pilots were flying 2 biplanes (a Waco and a Pitts (?) and crashed in midair. The show they were doing was to be the same show at Dayton.

Anybody with more info on the crash in Canada, I would like to hear about it. Having trouble finding out anything online.

Have a good one.

I think the pitts (flown by Jim Leroy) landed safely but the other A/C flown by Bobby Younkin was a biplane as well called Samson. We saw that act in Smyrna back in May and it was a good daredevil show. But, with all the smoke from the pyrotechniques i was wondering how they could see each other. And on the communication side very little is said during the MOD performance. It's basically a see and avoid situation. Unfortunately the unthinkable happened and they will be greatly missed by all airshow fans. Younkin also had an act where he flew (at select airshows) a Beech 18 as well as a Learjet. And Franklin also did the wingwalking act with his son, who was narrating the MOD act. Other than that thats about all I know. They were good.

I went to the show on Saturday and saw them perform. I was absolutely shocked to hear what happened on Sunday. Apparently the son of one of the pilots killed was doing commentary over the PA system (as he did Saturday as well) when the tragic crash happened. I don't know how many times I saw video footage of the crash on our local news on Monday. Video footage online is impossible to find now. Here is a link to our local paper detailing what happened.

A-HA! I found something on our local CBC news affiliate. Here is a link to their page. At the top of the page you will see the heading "Latest CBC newscasts". Underneath that select the one in the middle called "Latest Canada Now Saskatchewan newscast". It will have a video camera icon beside it as well. You will need the REALONE video player to play this newscast. Please try to view this before tommorow afternoon before it is replaced with tommorrow's newscast. Hope that helps ya out.

Hi all,

Thanks for the input on the airshow up in Canada. I hope everything goes well at Dayton this weekend.

ANYBODY W/FRS AT THE SHOW?

I was sad to see what happened in Canada. My prayers are with the family.

Will anybody attending the show this year be using an FRS radio? If so, I was seeing if we could just designate a CH # that we could all communicate on? This way, if one of us finds a frequency with our scanner that we think others would like to know, we could communicate it to all. It would kind of be like extending the forum out to the event.

I would like use one of the channels with the higher tx power for obvious reasons.

I guess its kind of late, and I may not get as much as a response as I would like, but I would just like to give it a try?

I AM ADDICTED

OMG. The wife and I came home and checked on the web to find when the next one in our area is going to be.
We are going to Cleveland for the Labor Day show.

I was truely amazed! The weather conditions limited the amount of show that could be put on, but I still had a blast. At 35 years old, that was my first air show. I can only imagine how I would have felt going as a child.

Thanks for all the help here because having my scanner added a new element also.

Thanks again.

Hey c gutta

What kinds of interesting stuff did you find to listen to over in Dayton? I was there Saturady also and sat down where the Thunderbirds were parked. I'm sure some of the stuff you found in Dayton will be active in Cleveland.

I would like to go to Cleveland myself but, it's seems far away. I have a vacation about that time but, I don't know if I'll go there or not.

Keep in mind that the next airshow for our area is the one up at Fairfield County Airport in Lancaster. It's Aug 20 and 21. I think it costs about $10.00 to get in so its kinda cheap.
