Dayton/Miami Valley is decades ahead of most areas as far as interoperability. I'm not sure how it's going to save money for the taxpayers as they are changing from an analog trucked system to the state wide IP system. Way to go Ohio! Well on your way to a statewide system!

You would think that by now people would know it's not a trucked system, but a trunked system.

The way they save money is by not having to maintain their equipment other then their subscriber equipment. Generally cheaper paying into a maintenance agreement.
Not to mention the interoperability and coverage.

Dayton and Montgomery County are still using an analog Type II system and one of the last major cities to do so. They may be able to interop within their county but most areas have already switched to the Ohio MARCS-IP system leaving them way behind..
