Whistler at Dayton

Talked to the people in the Whistler booth. The first run of radios will be for Radio Shack and should be in stores by the end of July. They will not be made in China or Japan and all production pieces are new from the original drawings and specs from GRE.

Scannermaster had 5 or 6 original PSR 800's at an asking price of $500. The rep said they were returns that had been recertified.

They are being manufactured in the Philippines. Probably no phase II radio's until sometime in 2015...

They did have their version of the PSR 800 on display along with their version of the Pro 106, and no one mentioned that they would or would not come out at the same time.

You sure about that? Wayne had a GRE branded model in his hand when I stopped by. All the other radios were Whistler though.

I was told at Dayton by Whistler phase 2 scanners will be available late 2014. He seemed very confident about that.

ScannerMaster had a few GRE 800's for sale, but no Whistler version of the radio. The Whistler booth had one on display along with the older Whistler/GRE models.

So no indication the 2014 models will handle MotoTRBO or Nexden?

DMR and possibly other formats is in store for the first gen true Whistler's. Those won't be out til 2016 or later. We already have been told by Whistler as much. These 2014 models are all reworked GRE concepts, with a change made in the new version of the PSR-800/900's. They, like the Uniden BCD436HP/BCD536HP's... Will do proper P25 LSM Simulcast systems.

You should revise that statement. The Unidens do not do proper P25 LSM simulcast systems. Some people seem to think they do, but they don't.

You have an inside scoop? .I know Uniden is using the new DSP chip that handles AMBE+2 but they are still having issues just like my PSR-800 does with LSM. What is Whistler doing that is different and will work ?
