I have a Pro-92 and a Pro-97 portable scanner that both have the 1/8" jack on the right side (facing front of scanner).

Where can I find a gender connector / adapter that will allow me to use on a computer with USB only ports? What driver name do I need to install.

On my other earlier computer (MS-Windows_98) that I use for HAM apps, and the Yaesu FT-757 ops, I only have the DB-9 connector for programming the Pro-92 with the Win92 program. I need the Win 97 for my Pro-97.

Thank you in advance :)

The first link is the RS item - the 2nd is where to find updated drivers - select the one appropriate for your OS

There are several others that are known to work, and I'm sure other RS owners will jump in.

In general terms, from everything I've been reading on the subject (I'm lucky to have 2 PCs with real serial ports, both running XP) setting this up to work has to be done in a fairly specific sequence;

a. first, make sure the scanner is set up for the correct speed (see your manual for this)
b. Install drivers
c. Attach device to your USB port, and insure that a COM port has been selected that is actually available;this is important - make sure that the port can be accessed in the software, and isn't being used by something else, like a BlueTooth device. Some ports actually install and stay resident, even if the device is not physically attached.
d. Attach to scanner

I had the same situation. I'm using a Belkin model FSU409 I purchased at a Staples store, with the GRE cable part number GE02D-8360, RS catalog number 20-289. As I recall, the converter came with a driver disk.
