Ok, so I am still trying to figure a way to get the Wilmington system to scan well on the HomePatrol-1. Here is the idea I have come up with - it seems part of the problem is that since the Wilmington system/TG's are lumped in with the State system in the DB, the HP-1 has to search all of the State control chan/frequencies as well as the City control chan/frequencies to find an active talk group - so since Wilmington really operates as a "seperate" system (I know it is affiliated with the state system, but it has its own control chan and frequencies that act independant of the state system) would it be possible to put Wilmington as its own system in the DB? If I remember correctly, at first it was its on its own, but then got merged in with the Delaware public safety system.....

Just thinking out loud and trying to get the HP-1 to work better!!

Thanks!!

I have a similar problem in Alabama. The Database on RR put all of the Department of Defense Systems together.

United States Department of Defense Trunking System, Various, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

Of couses it is to many to scan especialy when they are not in my state. The only way to solve your problem is to purchase a software program. There are several out there. I use ARC Patrol.

ARC PATROL extreme upgrade software for Uniden Sentinel HomePatrol Home Patrol HP1 HP-1 Homepatrol scanner free demo software

and a video of how to program the Home Patrol.

Intro to ARC Patrol Software for HomePatrol By Scanner Master - YouTube

This will solve your problem. Otherwise your stuck with a lot of frequencies you don't need.

I understand your frustration, We are not allowed to change the programming of a (correctly configured) system to "work around" functional problems of the hardware it is listened to on. That's what the admin manual says anyway.

I have found that "avoiding" all sites except Wilmington thru the advanced menu (make everything orange except Wilmington) but the scan time was a little slow plowing thru the whole county DB TG table and parts of transmissions were missed due to this.

I made this system a "favorite" for easy access.

Thanks Dave, but I guess that is what my argument is, that it is not a "correctly configured" system. As I said, Wilmington is a "stand alone system" and although it has been "affiliated" with the state system, it still maintains its own control channel and frequencies (it does not pool/share control channels/frequencies from the state-wide system). As the work around you suggest, and that I have been using confirms, when you have only the Wilmington site (which I believe only has the Wilmington control chan/freq) you can hear Wilmington with no problems, but cannot hear anything else on the state system, in other words you are only listening to the "separate" Wilmington system. I also will try to confirm in the next couple of days, but if I remember correctly, state/county radios, even when in the city, do not affiliate to the city site unless on a city talk group and likewise, city radios do not affiliate over to a state tower when out of the city unless they are on a state/county tg. Where this has been the biggest proplem is when city units were working at hoopes reservoir and cannot talk on the city talk groups (Hoopes is city property so the city takes lead on any events that happen there) So that is why I would respectfully suggest that the Wilmington system is not "correctly configured" as it currently is under the Delaware public safety system.

Lastly, if I remember correctly, at first, the Wilmington system was a separate system in the DB and everything, both state/county and Wilmington, worked fine. Then someone combined Wilmington into the state system and that is when the problems began. As I said, I do not feel I should have to exclude sites to be able to listen to Wilmington which at the same time will not allow me to listen to state/county at the same time, and I also do not feel as though I should have to create favorites to be able to scan both state/county and Wilmington at the same time (ok so I admit I am lazy).

Again Dave, I appreciate all you and the other admin do for the DB, but this is a simple fix to return it to how it was before. Could you please run it up the flag pole and see what happens? If those who tell you it is correctly configured need more information, please let me know and I will see if I can help. As you said, I am beyond frustrated and have held off buying additional HP-1's till this issue is worked out.

On another DB note

Dave- the rebanding project has changed how the tg's are id'd in the radios. I beleive everyone is still going to use the same ids (ie tac3 or disp1 or 2 or data) when talking, that is with the exception of the Itacs, they now have the national ids.......

This system does not appear to be configured any differently than any other Smartzone system in the database. MANY larger systems operate the same way. It is up to the user to program his scanner to limit/expand what it receives. That is why there are favorites lists and software. I do not own an HP-1 but have had many scanners. I cannot imagine you cannot separate the Wilmington City site from the other Wilmington site and have everything operate smoothly.

Use at your own risk! (I am doing fine here on my HP1 with this)

The attached file does what you want. Explore your HPD flash drive in usb mode, find the HPDB folder, Replace Delaware.hpd with the file in the .zip

Updating the radio from the HP software will likely blow out this file so beware...

WPD site is a small geo area so make sure your listening radius is big enough to get it from the location input to the HP1.

For those HP users that want the latest Delaware (and national since you do not have a choice) updates but want Wilmington city as a separate selectable "System" here ya go. download, rename to delaware.hpd and replace the delaware.hpd on the HP's SD card.
