I have a Uniden bc796, I followed the manual and the chart on this site to program MPDC, but I am unable to hear them. Every once in a while, I will catch 1D and 5D, but it is very rare. Any help?

First off, where are you located? Secondly, can you tune in and hear the control channel well? Thirdly, do you have the system set up as a Motorola type II system? I don't have a 796D, but perhaps someone on here who does, can weigh in as well.

I am located in Prince George's County, Maryland. I work right at the D.C. Line. I have my scanner set for type II tracking on that band. At times I can hear MPDC but, after a unit stops talking, it goes away.

Sounds like you're picking up the freq directly but not in a trunking mode. You are set to Motorola Type II UHF, right? The UHF is the important piece of the puzzle. And you entered the step size(either 12.5 or 25) and Offset Channel (380)?

I set up bank 3 to be Motorola Type II UHF trunking, then the program mode goes to setting the base configuration, I set the base frequency to 458.7750, then it asks for spacing, I set the spacing to 12.5, and then offset, which I set to 380. The RRDatabase shows 460.10000 as the primary control channel with 460.02500, 460.15000, 460.20000 as alternate control channels. I have tried programming it with the frequencies in order as shown on the data base, and with the primary control channel as the first frequency.

I completely deleted bank 3 and started programming fresh, remarkably it seems to work fine. I don't know what was going wrong before, but it has corrected itself. Thanks for your help.
