I'm using my cell phone wall adapter and just plug the USB cable in it. I chose serial instead of mass storage and it's working fine without the batteries in it.

Anyone gotten one that will power the unit?

I bought an RCA DC dual USB port (1 A each) that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and so far it has worked fine. I got it at WalMart for less than $6.00. It is the standard cell phone 5.0 to 5.1 volt unit but I had to use the USB cable that came with the 436HP as this unit does not come with a USB cable.

If you plan on using the "Discovery Mode", "Instant Replay, "Record function" or have any changes you enter via the scanner directly to be saved you will have to have good batteries in it too, but you can use it without batteries if you do not need those functions.

Oh ok. Haven't picked my 436 up yet due to weather. I didn't realize it was that type of plug. I was figuring it was like the 536. Yes now I remember that topic coming up but as it has been so many pages of reading I forgot about that. Thank you
