Is the DC public safety system in encryption mode? I though they did away with it a while back, but when i was driving through on the way home from work this morning the system was tracking but was garbled audio. All i was getting was PT0 & PT1. But no audio. Thanks.

PT0? PT1? No idea what talkgroups those are...

DCFD is about half enc on incident TGs, but dispatch and main should be clear.

Almost all of MPDC is enc, the one real exception being citywide.

Public Works is clear.

PTO & PT1 are what shows up on your uniden phase 2 scanner when its receiving audio. The phase 1 scanners would say P25.

Gotcha.

The encrypt is per talkgroup. Listen to fire 01 DISP and 02 MAIN, you should hear clear voice.

If you get nothing at all even though it stops on those talkgroups, do whatever you have to do to get the scanner to recapture or reprogram the bandplan- that'll be the issue in that case. Sounds likely that may be the issue anyway: radio captures channel grant message from control channel and jumps to that NUMBER voice channel in the bandplan to listen... which ends up being the wrong frequency since the bandplan is wrong, so it gets nothing.
