DOUGLAS COUNTY - Sheriff's deputies are searching for two suspects who shot and injured a deputy.

The suspects are believed to be connected to a burglary in the Silver Heights subdivision in Castle Rock.

Deputies tried to stop a suspicious vehicle in the area around 3 a.m. The suspects refused to pull over and shot at deputies.

According to police, bullets hit the patrol car and injuried one of the deputies in the arm.

The suspects finally stopped south of Highway 105 and Wolfensberg Road and then ran away.

Sheriff's deputies are out searching for them. Reverse 911 calls have been made to hundreds of residents alerting them of the situation.

Listening to this audio is just shocking to me. This officer who has been shot, is not only sticking with his fellow officer and continuing to update on the chase, but he is laughing and attempting to almost "make light" of this terrifying situation. That is one great deputy! Kudos to 626A, as well as DCSO and CRPD.

Suspects Arrested

Douglas County Sheriffs Office Arrest Two in the June 28th Shooting of Douglas County Deputy.

On 11/18/08 Douglas County detectives took into custody two suspects who were involved in the June 28th burglary and auto theft that ended with the suspect shooting at deputies, hitting one in the arm. It is also believed that these two are responsible for the June 11th armed robbery at the Circle K Convenience Store in Castle Rock as well as other burglaries and auto thefts starting in May 2008. The two suspects have been identified as: Brandon Kreuzer, age 19 from Sedalia and Taylor Moudy, age 19 from Castle Rock. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County Detentions Facility for processing.

...and an ironic twist

One of the suspects in this case, Brandon Kreuzer, age 19, is the son of a veteran Denver police officer. In a strange irony, Detective Kevin Kreuzer was himself shot in the arm during a traffic stop on Colfax in 2004. He has fully recovered and is currently a member of Mayor Hickenlooper's security detail...

Detective Kreuzer says he has no idea how his son, who lived at home until his arrest, obtained access to the type of weapons used in the crime spree...

Kinda feel bad for dad...
