Hoping against hope that Icom reads RR.

Dear Icom:

When I'm listening to a memory station with alpha tag

Example: "890.000 WLS, Chicago"

When I turn the dial to another frequency I would like the alpha tag to disappear.

Right now I can change the dial to 900 Mhz or whatever and it still says "890.000 WLS, Chicago" which makes no sense.

Thanks

If you press the 'V/M' button to switch to VFO from memory (MEMO), the alpha tag (memory name) disappears -- achieving what you want to do. The alpha tag stays on screen if you turn off the memory channel dial 'M-CH DIAL' and tune around using the main tuning dial.

Yes, that works, but I don't want to do that. Icom designers should take a spin on Winradio and take features from them. For example, on Winradio, if you dial up a frequency that is saved in memory, it shows you the alpha tag for it. Tune away and the alpha clears. Winradio also sorts the memories by frequency for you. And winradio costs a lot less then IC-8600.

The Winradio I'm referring to re: alpha tags and memories is the G31DDC which is VLF-50 Mhz. It has many automated features that turn things on and off when logical to do so.
