I've heard Dearborn FD talking about going to channel 5 lately. I know Ch. 1 (423.3) and 2 (423.4). Anyone know what Ch. 5 is, or Ch. 3 and 4 for that matter?

Yes, I'm well aware of what's listed. I monitored all 5 of the frequencies, but I didn't hear anything on them when they went to 5, and I was in Dearborn at the time.

I listen to Dearborn all the time, you should only listen the main dispatch and the fireground channel. 98% of the time that is all they talk on.

I believe that Ch-5 is a direct "talkaround" simplex channel on their new radios. More than likely its in the 425 MHz area.

Channel 5 is the output of 423.400. The FD uses that channel, when they are in close at fire scenes. Its only low power from the preps....1 to 3 watts or something like that. They had a problem using the repeater on 423.400 while they were inside buildings, so they requested a simplex type communication. Makes sense to me !!
