I know that they use old equipment. One of these days they are going to upgrade it, but hey, if it aint broke dont fix it.....they have no problems with their system except interoptability.......everyone around them is 800MHz digital.....

Amen to that, our sheriff well, our whole county for that matter is going digital sometime, and their current equipment works fine. They say it's for interoptability, 460.4 in all radios, boom, you have interoptability. But, the main reason for this post is I just though their radios sounded cool. Thanks :p

Whatever it is, it's Motorola.

There is rarely a place in my travels where I cannot pick them up perfectly... even when it's outside the county.

I've seen one of their portables a few years back, it appeared to be an HT1000

Shane:

The last I knew Dearborn PD was using Motorola CentraCom Consoles and an older General Electric Master II or III repeater on 158.850 MHz. Years ago, they had all G.E. equipment, including the consoles, mobiles and primary transmitters, relays, etc.

I know their old repeater was a G.E. Mastr Pro, which had tube finals and excellent audio quality.
