decal antenna for mobile use?

Better or worse than listening to my BC296D scanner with its whip antenna inside the car? The frequencies im most interested in are in the 800-900 MHz band.

Im still interested in picking up repeater (so they are strong) 150 MHz band signals also.

I would bet a whip would be just as good, or if you really need to get to a window then a coaxial dipole.

Keep the cable as short as possible for decent 800 reception.
