BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Deciding Factor: BCD996P2 and Remote Head

I'm ready to pull a hair trigger and order a BCD996P2. But, there is one deciding factor that is holding me back. Will this new model interface and work with the BC-RH96 remote head?

No, that item is obsolete and no longer supported. I've seen several recommendations of an inexpensive Win-Book (<$100) running control software as a much better (thinner, lighter, color touchscreen) solution than the RH-96.

No, it will not. The connector on the BC-RH96 cable is a mini serial (Hirose) connector, the port on the BCD996P2 is a mini USB connector.

Would you be able to switch the face plate on the 996p2 with the one from the xt allowing you that port for the remote head... and if not im sure they would have to make some sort of Mini USB to plug port so it would work ...

It depends if the USB port is fully on the front panel or if it's on the main board with wires connecting it to the jack. If the latter, it definitely would not work.
