I keep getting these "unhandled PDU messages during voice calls on a P25 Phase 2 system.
Makes the audio choppy as the message is interlaced with the decode.
Latest release of DSD+ FL

Thanks

Actually, I think it only does it on particular Harris P25 P2 systems, like AEP P25 -- and maybe only on the AEP P25 system because they might be taking advantage of some specific feature or something on Harris' version. I know the author of DSDPlus is aware of this because I sent this information to dsdplusfastlane@gmail.com way back last year sometime.

On your end I don't think there is anything you can do about the messages, just like I can't. I think that the most that can be done is that the author may be able to suppress the messages so that we don't see them.

I don't think they cause any type of voice decode issue though. Never had that issue here. The messages do show up, but I've never had a problem with the actual voice decoding.

Note: If you see "Unhandled PDU" messsages in the VC event log window,
it means that the system is broadcasting messages that DSD+ does
not currently decode. We will need raw VC recordings of these messages
in order to add support for them to DSD+

I suspect that some raw recordings of the voice traffic (pressing "r" in DSDPlus when there are voice transmissions and allowing it to record for a minute or two and then pressing "r" again to stop it) might be needed. Raw audio recordings are recorded to your DSDPlus folder and will be.wav files. They would need to be zipped up and sent to dsdplusfastlane@gmail.com .

I don't know if those unhandled PDUs are different from the ones I reported to the author last year or not -- but the ones I reported were from the same system (but ohio sites).

That's awesome. Most people would not be willing to go through that trouble. If you want my recommendation, I would recommend that you just email dsdplusfastlane@gmail.com and send them the link to your onedrive file. And in the subject just put in the system info something like:

92715.1F7-##.## Unhandled PDUs (where ##.## is the site number)

You might want to include the RRDB link to the system in the body of the message as well ( American Electric Power P25 Trunking System, Various, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies )

Thanks!

Maybe our friends at DSD+ can find a solution. Not a big deal for me but I believe it would improve voice quality.

The fast lane people informed me that they were making the correction based on the audio file that I sent. We’ll see how it works on my end. Thanks Harry

I got a DSD+FL update popup and followed through....
Still have unhandled PDU messages and voice decode is poor....
Checked modified file dates which showed todays date and time so I suppose the update was done
Being new at DSD+FL I have never experienced an update routine.

All the update does is download a zipfile that contains ony updated items. It puts that zipfile in whatever folder dadplus lives in

You have to exit DSD plus, find a zip file open it using the password, and extract the files and override the other ones that are in the directories. If you haven’t done that you’re not running the latest version

I saw some BAD DUID/ BAD Frame DATA/Unknown DUID messages whilst voice decoding which sounded like every time that happened it hiccupped. I emailed the DSD+ team screenshot and raw data sample. The system I listen to was built by L3 Harris and worth of mouth claims that L3 Harris implements custom things at customer request.

It is very possible that the DUID issue is fixed for some people but others still may have issues due to L3 Harris's way of setting up systems. It's not a one size fits all fix. I know someone will cry "your ppm may be off", "your gain is not right" well I am pleased to kill that by confirming it's not the issue at all. Very little CRC errors at all not enough to hurt it if any and gain is set at the best without any imaging and overload.

and yes its v 2.324
