• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Been listening to this Deer fire this afternoon. It's a long way from me though.

CDF Command 1 151.355
CDF Tac 8 151.370
CDF Tac 9 151.385
I think maybe Tac 2 151.160
Air Tactics 4 151.280

Also listen on AEU Local net 151.190
El Dorado Command 154.430

That ought to cover it today, if anybody closer has a handle on it maybe they can offer more.

I think someone in East Sacramento County might have called in a fire. At work, I heard on my scanner that Metro Fire units were dispatched out to a grass fire and then heard the one of the units responding to the call, was monitored the VHF radio installed in our rigs and found that it was out of our county.

But, the dispatch for that area was requesting for extra support.

Must have been large. When I left work (Hurley & Howe, next to Cal Expo) at 1700 hours, I saw a huge column of smoke from the east, so I am assuming that would be the fire you wrote about.
