DEER TRAIL (AP) - A Lakewood man is dead and another man is hospitalized after their pickup truck hit a deer and rolled off Interstate 70.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gilbert Mares says the two were eastbound in a Ford F-350 flatbed pickup about 6:45 a.m. Friday when they struck the animal three miles west of Deer Trail.
The deer was thrown to the left lane of I-70 and killed. The pickup went off the right side of the road and rolled over.
The 55-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 48-year-old man from Wheat Ridge, was airlifted to The Medical Center of Aurora South with undisclosed serious injuries.
Mares says both men were wearing seat belts.
No names have been released.
