Last month, Delaware County was awarded an FCC license to implement a countywide P-25, simulcast TRS, for public safety operations. The system is licensed for several sites under the callsigns of: WQDF421 and WQDF578.

Does anyone know if this will be a subsystem of MARCS, or a stand-alone digital system?

The word seems to be that the existing Delaware city system will be expanded for countywide coverage, and upgraded to P25 voice. From the frequencies you posted, it looks like they have added 2 new ones.

It doesn't sound like the system will have any connection to the MARCS. Hopefully the radios will at least be able to access some mutual aid channels on the MARCS, though.

From what I've heard from people directly associated with MARCS, there aren't going to be any sub-systems of MARCS. The newly rebanded systems, however, will be able to access MARCS if needed and all radios will have the current (or new) NPSPAC channels readily available for use.

That will be cool. I have an aunt in Sunbury, now I'll have something to listen to while I'm visiting.

I am going to buy the PRO-96 before they go off sale next week. $315 with my discount. One good thing about working for the Shack.

Supposedly going online for testing in October or November...

They will eventually add 3 more frequencies for a total of 10. It will be an 8-site simulcast, with the capability of 2 more sites being added if necessary.

Correct. Delaware County will be a standalone system. They will have the same MARCS mutual aid talkgroups as other agencies with digital radios (MCALL, MCOMM, ECOMM, etc).

Thanks

Update?

I got a call from a fellow mgr @ the Radio Shack in Delaware. He said he had the Delaware Co Fire Chief in his store. He said the guy told him that they are testing the new digital system now. It would be going online in 90 days. I told him over and over again that I didn't believe him, even though he thought the guy was the fire cheif. I will believe it when I see it, or at least get more info about it.
Thats why I am here. Anybody here have any updated time frame info on this system? I don't want to sell my customers a $220 PRO-97 that will be useless to them for what they originally bought it for.

Thanks in advance.

plug in the channels into the system see if they come up with anything. 90 days would put it into June which is around the time when Medflight was looking at going to MARCS. All I know is the system better have some power so I can here it down here in west CMH its on my live feed and I would like to keep it on it.

Really I would not be selling a Pro-97 to anyone in this area. Spend the extra $ and go digital.

I know with certainity the fire chiefs of the county are wanting to keep the existing vhf system online after the network is in place for the "what if " senario presents itself, but were offered patches into vhf off the new system for "mutual aid " channels. As with all new systems time and money will tell how its all intergrated.

Its hard to convince someone to spend $500 instead of $150. I am a good salesman, but thats not easy.
You and I see the benifit, but these people are not used to spending that much on a scanner.
