Interesting but couldn't they have just added talkgroups to the existing state system and saved those millions of dollars for something else?

Now I see they're in the process of replacing the current 800mhz system with a 700 so I guess that answers my question.

The 700 mhz system is what the prisons will use. Everyone else will stay on the 800 mhz system.

I'm assuming there will be patches between the 700 and 800 systems for DSP and EMS to communicate with the corrections staff.
