I will download the RRDB and then create favorites lists. I need to delete a pot load of TGs from the larger systems and only use a few TGs for each city in my favorites...I started tonight by just deleting TGs as I went down the list. Is there a faster way? Or a lockout that isn't temporary, in case I want to come back and add them later?
for example...save only the FD/FD/EMS for the city and delete PW/Parks/Event Center, etc.

thanks for the help...

You mean like the standard Windows (select the first line, scroll down and hit SHIFT and select the last), and hit DELETE?

You can also select the first, hit shift, and then use the down arrow to select more.

Or for the lockout select the first, then copy that using the above method.

Or if there is a range you want, sort on the TG or tag, then use the above.

for the sake of scanning speed, and I understand with a trunked system it is parking on the control channel and waiting for a TG I want to hear to pop up, is it smarter to AVOID or DELETE?

I would, where possible, delete the Departments as long as it is one of the specific types you want to trim.

However, when you look at the Northeast Tarrant department, there's every talkgroup, for every king of agency, in one conglomerated mess. You see that in some of the cities as well. But if you are editing the list in the Favorites editor, click on one of the departments with a boatload of TGIDs.
Next, click on the Sort icon (just to the right of the big green down arrow)
You can then sort by Service types (or Text tag, with the city as your first sort, then Service Tag as your second choice.

Personally, I delete the stuff that I don't need, rather than simply Avoid.

FYI- for Northeast Tarrant, I sorted all those TGIDs by city & type, creating multiple departments. If you want an hpe file with that, just send me a message.

Technically they are both the same and will not affect the scan speed at all.

But, if it is a TG you know you will never want to hear, delete it so you can scroll through the list faster if you want to scroll to a specific TG.

If you delete a TG it will stop on that TG if you search ID's rather than scan, I prefer to avoid that way I never have to listen to it unless I want.

I always AVOID known TGID's that I wish to not hear, If outright Deleted, It can reappear as an unknown, causing another issue that is frequently discussed in this forum. (probably right behind the never ending saga of Nothing To Scan)

Good point.

All good advice thanks. These 8 536s are going into commercial use! Once I program them and put them in place of aging 996P2s they won’t be changed, put into search ID or even turned off for that matter! Other than showing the users the HOLD function I hope they just keep going, and going, and going!!!
