DEMA Excersise

Appears to be a DEMA exercise on the air now.

Units are responding to a simulated event at the State Capitol and/or Tucson.

ADOT, ADOC, Mesa, MCSO, State EOC, Bullfrog and Gecko all active.

I'm hearing on AIRS UHF and VHF; they also mentioned the DEMA 800 net.

The AIRS channels 1-5 are all crossbanded UHF/VHF/7,800.

I will use AIRS 1 as an example. If I talk on AIRS 1 UHF it will also be transmitted on AIRS 1 VHF and AIRS 1 800 MHz as well. By design you will hear the same radio traffic on the system 1-5 as each TX/RX frequencies are the same, but each county has a different TX PL.

Imagine that, analog cross band statewide interoperability. We needed to spend hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on numerous separate simulcast P25 systems... why?
