Denver Vacant Building Fire | 5280FIRE
03/25 ~ 21:26 Denver Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 503 West 3rd Avenue. District Chief 2 arrived with Engine 11 & Rescue 1 and assumed command. Engine 11 hit the plug at 3rd & Elati, The Rescue reported smoke pushing from a charlie side window. Rescue was assigned as fire attack with Engine 11 and a line was advanced inside the first floor & basement. Tower 1 positioned on 3rd Avenue (Side Alpha), laddered the roof went to the 2nd floor to search where heavy smoke conditions were found. Engine 1 laid in from 3rd Avenue & Delaware and a back up line was advanced inside. Hamer was assigned assigned as RIT, Truck 8 positioned on Elati, laddered the roof and began opening up all the boarded doors and windows with Tower 23. Truck 8 also performed vertical ventilation on the bravo side. With all hands working, Chief 2 requested an extra Chief, Engine & Truck. A hole in the first floor was discovered as well as heating salamanders on both levels which were promptly removed. The charlie side exposure sits inches from the fire building which caused access problems. Chief 4 was assigned as incident safety officer and Truck 15 assisted with RIT duties. The fire was placed under control about 45 minutes into the incident. No injuries were reported, all searches proved negative and investigators were called tot he scene.
