From 9 News....

DENVER - A criminal defense attorney is in the middle of a barricade situation with Denver Police at his home in the North Cherry Creek area.

9NEWS has learned the identity of the man and has previously reported it. At this time 9NEWS will not release the identity following a request from the Denver Police Department as they try to establish contact with him.

The home is located at 2nd Avenue and Monroe in Denver. It is not clear yet if there is anyone else inside the home with the man or what prompted this situation.

Traffic in the area is being diverted by police. The following roads have been closed. Cedar is closed between Garfield and Madison, Cherry Creek North Drive is closed at Colorado Boulevard and Monroe is mostly closed between Alameda and Bayaud.

Denver also has radio traffic on one of their SWAT channels

DENVER – The standoff between a criminal defense attorney and Denver Police at the attorney’s home in the Cherry Creek area ended Friday evening.

Denver Police say they entered the home and found a man dead inside. Police have not identified him.

However, family members at the scene say they have learned the body was that of Michael Andre, the attorney most recently known as the criminal defense attorney for known gang member Willie Clark.

Clark, who is currently in a probation facility in Colorado Springs, has been questioned in the murder case of Denver Broncos’ cornerback Darrent Williams on New Year’s Day.

Police say they released tear gas and other diversionary devices into the home prior to entering.

"This is not the outcome we had hoped for," White said.

Few details were released, but officers said they had received a report at about 9 a.m. that someone in the home may have threatened suicide.

They said a woman had gone into the house, and a man inside had pointed a weapon at her. She left and called police, prompting the standoff.

Traffic in the area is being reopened, and residents are being allowed to reenter their homes.

The home is located between Alameda and Cedar on Monroe Street in Denver. It is not clear yet what prompted this situation.

9NEWS will have more information, including a look at some of Andre’s more high-profile work, on 9NEWS at 9 p.m. on My20, Comcast channel 3.

According to the news, the family is not happy with the way DPD handled this. Who wants to bet they sue, and win?

It sure did mess up traffic in a large area; but hindsight is 20-20, as we all know.
