Just an FYI-
Talking to some of my comrads in Denver, it looks like the Glendale station will become Denver Engine 5 within the next 6 mos or so. Glendale, what members remain, are in the academy now and hopefully as soon as they finish, the station will be staffed. Right now, as some of you may know, 19s a pair is covering their district, now winning Engine 19 the "Top Run" award, taking it away from Engine 8. The rumor is, Engine 5 will be the Glendale rig, same red color as it is now, making it the only red rig in the fleet now that the Hamer is white. DG is still up in the air as to if they are going to staff an ambo in one of the stalls at the new Engine 5's quarters. And my feeling, with the long stood differences with fire and EMS, if that happens, the quarters may be separated within the station.

More to come....

Since DG is SSM (Systems Status Management) operation and does not operate out of any fixed based stations currently, I would be very surprised if they do anymore than possibly add a "post" somewhere in Glendale.

The West side is Denver, the east side is Glendale...

Good info Engine 5 - Thanks!

Although does not really matter anymore because GPD is all that's left Denver is covering the Glendale Fire and EMS responses.

Yeah - that makes a lot of sense eh? LOL... I bet in time Denver will take over the cop shop too...

I wonder if Cunningham 61 is next... or Skyline... ?

No changes in Cunningham, which actually per station is busier that any South Metro, Littleton or West Metro station especially the extensive residential growth in 62's and 63's areas.

And Skyline remains as well.

Here's an article about the proposed merger.

http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36%7E53%7E2785595,00.html

Note where it says "Glendale, an enclave half-a- mile square of nightclubs, storefronts, apartment buildings, office towers, three single-family homes and 4,200 residents wedged between Denver and Aurora, would save $1.2 million a year by contracting for fire protection.".

They need to take a look at the map! It doesn't touch Aurora. I notice a lot of stuff like this in the newspaper.
