DENVER - On Monday morning, a local man went into a burning home in an attempt to rescue a victim trapped inside.
The man and his wife were driving along W. Denver Place when they saw the house at 3404 on fire. The man's wife quickly called 911 while he went into the home to rescue any possible victims.
The Good Samaritan told 9NEWS he crawled through the fiery structure to the back bedroom, but soon realized the victim had already succumbed to the blaze.
According to witnesses, the victim, an elderly man whose name was not released, had a history of smoking in his back bedroom of his home.
Fire crews are investigating the fire with consideration of witness reports.
