DENVER -- Eight people were arrested after a fight broke out at George Washington High School involving multiple police officers Thursday afternoon.
Police said the fight started in the parking lot. A school resource officer went to break up the fight, but the kids started assaulting the officer, police said.
The officer called for backup and the officers that responded were also assaulted, said Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson.
More than a dozen officers were called to the school to break up the fight. One adult and seven juveniles were arrested for various charges ranging from assaulting an officer to resisting arrest, Jackson said.
One officer was injured in the leg. No other injuries were reported.
