Lots of activity on the Denver Federal Correction center this afternoon. I heard that there was a bunch of inmates with weapons.

Did anyone else hear? They appeared to use L/G 4 the new FFL chopper from Pueblo for the C/G? Guess it was already in Denver after another call.

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A federal prison in Jefferson County is under lockdown following a fight that injured eight inmates.

It happened at the medium security Englewood Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) at 9595 West Quincy Avenue, between Wadsworth and Kipling.

Two people were hospitalized, according to the West Metro Fire Department. Six others had minor injuries and were treated by the prison doctor.

Prison officials say the fight happened in an outdoor recreation area and it's not clear what, if any, weapons were used. They say it appeared to be random and not gang motivated. Inmates will remain on lockdown for several days to ensure there isn't any retaliation.
