Hello all, I am new to the site and to NC. I need help looking for frequency 's for Denver NC fire and ems in Lincoln county. I have tried some that I found online but do not seem to work. I had a guy tell me that they switched to 800MHz but no sure. I am also looking for the same info for Cleveland NC FD and Mooresville NC FD. After being a Vol. FF in NY it drives me crazy hearing sirens and not knowing what is going on. I am using a Uniden BC 760xlt and BCT15. Any help would be greatly appreciate d.
Thank you
PS. anyone recommend a real good antenna short of a large roof mount?

Lincoln fire dispatch is patched to a VHF frequency (159.165 - 218.1 PL) which I know is still active. I haven't monitored myself, but the database shows that EMS is patched with 154.815 - 107.2 PL

For monitoring tac channels, you will need a way to monitor the VIPER system (such as a Uniden BCD996P2, BC556HP, SDS200) or some other scanner that can monitor 7/800 WITH phase 2 capabilities.

I will link the Lincoln County Database and the VIPER Database with the Lincolnton site for you as well as Cleveland County and the CC's trunked system. Please feel free to ask if you have any other questions..

NC VIPER (Hyperlinked directly to the Lincoln County category)
VIPER Lincolnton Site

Cleveland County is operating on their own 800Mhz system, but they are patched to VHF, similarly to Lincoln Co. 158.760 - 167.9 PL

So, does that mean that neither scanners I have will work down here? Back home everything was on uhf, I know nothing about Viper or trunk systems, so I Need a special radio and a special way to program it?

Thank you! I looked over that.

So with those, you'll be able to receive the VHF dispatch frequencies. This is my pure recommendation, but you can sell the BCT15 and use the funds towards a less expensive phase 2 scanner, such as a BCD996P2 and I have heard there are people who will happily assist in programming.

Your current scanners will only hear the VHF Patch. Lincoln County uses Viper Full-Time which is Phase 1 Digital Trunking soon to be Phase II.

Mooresville Fire DOES NOT use UASI anymore, they are on VIPER now full-time. Only Mooresville PD uses UASI which will change to Viper by years end.

You will need to upgrade your scanner to an SDS100 or SDS200. I DO NOT recommend any other radios due to the receivers not working well on digital trunking. You can also get a Harris, BK, or Unication radio/pager which will work well on Viper, with that said programming becomes more difficult.

A scanner is the best option for a newbie.

After looking at scanners, I cannot justify no I have the money to spend 500 to $700 for new scanner. Is there any way to listen to the frequencies to the computer?
I have a laptop in my shop. I have to some kind of program that would work. That would be great If I could listen to the F D down here end my old dept in New York..

Get a unication g4, they work extremely well on simulcast systems, so do the SDS series by Uniden!
