At 16:21 hours today, Dispatcher for Dist 1 announced Dispatch 1 (04-021) will be for Cinco De Mayo ops only.
All regular patrol ops will be on Tac 1 (04-023)
Thursday is Cinco de Mayo and there are celebrations planned all over Denver. There will be a big event at Civic Center Park with rides, music and dancing on Saturday and Sunday.
And as usual, a huge crowd is expected to hit Federal Boulevard for cruising beginning Thursday night.
When the traffic gets heavy police will put up barricades and no-turn signs to keep cruisers isolated on Federal Boulevard between 52nd Avenue at the north end and Evans Avenue on the south.
That means drivers will not be allowed to turn on or off Federal except in a few spots.
Police also will be easing up on noise violations for a couple of hours on those cruising nights.
However, officers will enforce an 11 p.m. curfew Thursday and Sunday night and a midnight curfew Friday and Saturday.
