Ok, I have a rookie problem here.. I never really listened to Denver before, but deceided what the heck. I am missing something, because I programed it in and it sounds terrible ( when I can hear it). Cant lock onto the CC most of the time even in the greater metro area, and when I park on any particular frequency, it does pick up voice, but it has a lot of static, and the signal is very weak. etc. I have the right scanner (BCD396XT- using the OEM antenna) and its working fine, I listen to the state DTRS all the time. All the LCN's are in the right order, per the DB. Is there a better site? What's the piece I'm missing here?

Denver uses a simulcast system that basically only covers the city; if you get about 15 miles away or even less in some directions it drops out. When they were on Mt. morrison I could hear it almost to Fort Morgan.
800MHZ is great for line of sight. DIA is hard to hear in many parts of south & west denver Also.
Program Denver Public works & if it comes in good that is your problem with PS.

I had this same question and came here to find out what was going on.

Dug out my scanner after not using for about a year or so and was surprised that I could not hear Denver even though I live in Denver, Turnpike/Pecos area. I guess if I want to listen to DPD, I can use my iPhone scanner app.

Should be booming up there - you're around 2 miles from a simulcast site at 52nd & Zuni. Do you have any cellular telephone towers nearby that might be overloading your scanner?

Well see I have no clue what's going on. I can manually go through the Denver bank on my scanner and pick up Denver PD. It's when I scan that my scanner doesn't get anything. What am I doing wrong here? I just discovered this is going on.

Have you downloaded a programming file for your scanner recently, changes have been made.

No, that's probably the problem. I have a Mac so I will have to install Windows and see if I can get this going. It's been a few years since I've had a Windows computer and messed with this stuff.

Possible your scanner won't do ESK? Maybe you need to update the firmware.
You are surely close enough--

Good chance if he's trying top use a Pro-96 for Denver.

Thanks for the insight guys. I was in the same boat as 'funcritter' was, it probably has been at least 8 years since I had Denver PS in a scanner. Oh well, it's not like I have nothing else to listen too.

One possibility is that you have two systems assigned to the same quick key. The radio could be off scanning some garbage system that has the same quick key as Denver assigned to it. The quickest way to do a test for this is to assign Denver to a new quick key that you've confirmed as unassigned. If that fixes it, then enable the "old" Denver quick key to ID the other system that was doubly assigned.

When you do hear Denver PD, sounds like you are holding on a talk group, correct? I just wanted to confirm the radio is trunk tracking. . is it following the same conversation? You're not hearing random unrelated transmissions with the multi-beep squelch tail I presume.
