I described what is on the display. Lets keep posts on topic please. Two members added to ignore list.

How about letting a Moderator decide what's on topic?

As far as model specific forums go, there are none. The BCD436HP you are seeing is a tag. This is the Uniden Tech Support forum, nothing more, nothing less.

Now, let's get back on topic.

Thanks.

While scanning, normally the department always showed in large letters and the site showed just below it in small letters.

Now all of a sudden the sites show in large letters (the department is not shown at all) and nothing shows below in small letters.

When it stops scanning or is on hold it shows as normal.

Apparently I changed something. I have looked through the scanner and the manuals and can't figure out what I did or how to change it back. I tried holding and un-holding Site but it doesn't seem to matter.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Here's a stretch. Possible SD card corruption?

If you have a backup SD card, try swapping it out. Or setup a new SD card with a download from Sentinel.

FYI: I've looked in the manual and browsed through Sentinel and haven't seen any type of settings to make the 436 look the way you described.

Correct me if I'm wrong. It looks like the Database is displaying correctly and your Favorites List is not.

If the Database is displaying correctly, that means that your scanner is properly handling the data.

If your scanner had a hardware or firmware defect, it should affect both the Database and the Favorites List in the same way.

My best guess would be there's an issue with your Favorites List(s). The file or files were somehow altered. Or they were simply mis-programmed.

The next step would be trouble shooting. Export a portion of both the Database file and one or more of the Favorites File(s). Look at them with a text program, Note Pad should work. You should see the file structure patterns.

Check Sentinel and any other programs you might use to manage your Favorites data files.

Check your hardware PC or PC's. Check the hard drives. Check other files on your pc.

That's a very short list of basic things you should consider doing.

Post your results.

Good luck.

I see only one difference between your screen and my 436. Where yours says "Columbus Police 3", mine says "Ohio MARCS-IP: Multi-Agency Radio Communica..."

All the other lines have identical information.

Are Columbus Police on their own system called "Columbus Police 3"?

Larger Text

I looked at page 27 in the manual - paying close attention to the "436 only" and "536 only" indicators -- and all it talks about for the 436 is FUNC/9 which toggles Radio ID and Service Type on the display (whippity doo! :p). I can barely see either string on the display anyway....
<rant>I'm still waiting for Uniden to implement a larger text display option for this radio (and they claim they listen to their users)</rant>

However, I am very curious to better understand what you are seeing -- can you post a couple of screenshot/images, etc (or a U-toob video)?

Yes, the display font is rather small when compared with other digital scanners I've owned.

I noticed a way to do all caps in ARC536 Butel, but I am still reading how to operate this software, much different than Sentinel, similar to Win500.

Before I bought this new software, I went into Sentinel and typed "all caps" in department, system, talk group descriptions. Even with this, since I'm 62 years old, it is sometimes difficult to see when mounted on my dash.

This pic is using a Favorite List where the other is using the database. I wanted to show that it does this using both features.
