I've not heard much activity on the State DWR VHF-Hi system in a long time. This morning, to my surprise 151.235 came active the multiple radio checks with a CTCSS tone of 141.3. The units in the field initially ID'd themselves as going thru "Tejon" which was unlikely as I can't hear Tejon/Frazier/Pinos from my location (blocked by Oat Mtn). They later corrected this to "Hauser", which makes more sense. The DB shows Hauser with a different tone, so I'm not sure if the tone was changed, or if these guys really were on Hauser, but I confirmed with both a PSR-600 & RS Pro-2055 that 141.3 was definitely being used.

It's been over a week since the heavy activity on 151.235 and I've heard nothing on the channel since....back to radio silence. In retrospect, I'm wondering if they put up a new repeater and had the staff running around doing radio checks that day and that was that. I guess they were satisfied that it worked and went back to using their celfones or whatever? I'm reluctant to report the new tone for Hauser to the DB Admin based on one day's activity, but take it FWIW. I'd suggest if you monitor 151.235, leave the tone off, if interference permits, and just wait and see what happens.
