Usually if a LEO is convicted of a crime involving honesty they will loose their job. It depends on their union contract. Also this guy was just a jail guard so that may make a difference too. Politics involved here as well.

If he's convicted of a crime the department can take any action they want based on policy and NOT a union contract. That has nothing to do with it.

Also, a Deputy is a Deputy. Being a "jail guard" doesn't make it any less or more serious.

This is just sad. With all the issues facing LEO'S this deputy decides to steal from those he is sworn to serve. At the very least he should lose his job, as he is no longer trustworthy.
