Desktop cradle to hold up portables

Does anyone have any neat ideas - I have 3 portable scanners and I like to leave them on my desk but they always tip over. I want to find some sort of nifty cradle of sorts where I can place them in and prevent them from tipping, but still allow them to work. I guess I can work up some narrow box or something, but I was curious if anyone has something like this?

I'm not familiar with anything pre-made; at one of my past jobs (where they had scrap metal laying around) I bolted together 4 pieces of metal slightly larger than the radio's battery, cut a slot in the side to allow for a charging cable, and then mounted those 4 pieces to a larger plate (I even had two side-by-side for two different radios) to keep it from tipping over.

Or...maybe an over-sized pencil/pen cup mounted to a plate to keep it from tipping over?

Or...if you want a conversation piece, miniature "guy wires" coming off the top of the radio & thumb-tacked to the table
