Has anyone tried any of these desktop stands/mounts for handheld scanners? I'm sick of my low-rent method of leaning the Pro96 against a tape dispenser and hoping it doesn't topple over whenever I push a button on it.

sure looks stable.

I have both the stand from Nifty accessories, and the Watson QS300.

Either model is okay. Both are all metal construction. The QS300 has an adjustable tilt so you can move the radio back and forth for best vewing angle. The model from Nifty accessories is kind of small, more suited for small radios like the Yaesu VX-5 or VX-7, but it can be adjusted to accept larger radios.

Ken,

Do you think that either one is large/wide enough to nicely accomodate the Pro96 or 296?

Thanks.

Dave, look at the top photo in the link that merlin3rd provided above. That's the one I have. I believe it's a little better in holding scanners like the PRO-96, because it's larger than the model from Nifty Accessories. Plus, the tilt angle is adjustable.

REPLY--SCANNER STANDS

Somebody once said in on of the magazines to simply bend the front of any metal bookends for use as a scanner stand. Sounds easy and relatively inexpensive.
