Due to the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Charley, all public safety radio communications systems in DeSoto County have been knocked off the air. Repairs are being made to the trunking system, and other other conventional systems, but will take several weeks to complete. In the meantime, all law enforcement communications are being conducted over Nextel, which has provided the county with hundreds of radios to use until the regular communications circuits are restored.

Where did you get your information? The only time the 800 SMR went off the air after Charlie was when the generator ran out of propane. Motorola sent hundreds of loaner portables for the other law enforcement agencies to work off that system, so there would be a common channel. The cell phones were very limited in use especially for public safety.

Went through DeSoto this morning and none of the CCs from the db were active. Found a new one: 855.5625.

The way the database is updated, it is difficult to tell exactly what is changed/updated. For example, when the CC was added, the db update history shows this: (Changed Site # 001 (Primary) to 001 (Primary)) - kinda hard to tell what was added unless you already had them written down somewhere.
