Determining Mfg Date on Uniden

I have a BC200XLT, with a mfg. code of OKIA. Does anybody know where I can find
out when this scanner was made? The serial number is: 15029790

Are you sure the date code is 0KIA and not OHIA?

normal decode is as follows from several websites found with a google on "Uniden Date Codes"

Decoding the date code on your Uniden Bearcat scanner is as follows.

The date code consists of a two digit code representing the month followed by another two digit code representing the year.
For example, the date code

0AID would decode to Jan 1994 0A = Jan (A=1, first month of year) ID =94 (I=9, D=4)

0EIC would decode to May 1993 0E = May (E=5, fifth month of year) IC = 93 (I=9, C=3)

0CI0 would decode to March 1990 0C = March (C=3, third month of year) I0 = 90 (I=9, 0=0)


A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, 0=0

I was looking for this type of code on my BCD396T and could not find one? Is it possible to determine the approximate date of production on those by any other methods, such as serial number range?

On the newer model Uniden scanners, there is no way to tell the exact date ie month/year
however looking at the first digit of the serial number represents the year. Exmple:\

5=2005
6=2006

Are you sure? I have a bc296d and the serial number starts with 319Z, I also have a bcd996t and that serial number starts with 335Z. This would indicate, according to you, that both were manufactured in 2003 and I don't think that's the case. Are these first 4 characters part of the serial number? If not then what you say might be correct, the first number after the Z on the 296 is a 4 and on the 996 it's a 7.
