Negative, no buzzer is used and the printers (fax machines) are not used for dispatch for over a year. All runs are verbally announced over tg 8239 and whatever chief that you are dispatched with (if it is a box alarm) you switch to that channel, for instance if you get dispatched on a box alarm with Chief 8 you switch to fire scene channel 8. upon arrival at the scene, The automated code red dispatch system is being put back on line and should be up & running by the end of the month. It is a series of bell rings that alert you as to which apparatus should respond. It starts with one long ring followed by a series of shot rings, one ring is for the engine, two rings for the truck & three rings or more means everybody goes while the printer spits out your run sheet. Then once you get on the rig you verbally announce over the radio that you are enroute, you have 60 seconds from the time you receive the alert to notify dispatch that you are enroute & the dispatch will verbally announce the run with address & cross streets & any other important info.
