I wonder how the DPD will reconfigure the radios? It seems like radio traffic for one district will be pretty busy, or maybe they will use one freq. for dispatch in that district and one freq for lein.

It's going to take at least a month before the changes start to happen according to the news, and with the switch to the new radio system coming soon, they can do pretty much anything they want as far as channels are concerned. The UHF channels will go away anyway.

I can't imagine that the UHF will go away that fast. I don't think they have enough hand held radios. Heck I think that the reserves have old old old radios.

I think the change will happen pretty much overnight, unless some problems surface that are unforseen. With the change, there may not be too many reserves left anyway...

That is correct! In the future, they will integrate voice and data on the MPSCS and Detroit wants to be one of the very first to switchover, since their current MDT system is becoming rather aged. Likewise, look for the MPSCS to promote this all over the state within the next two years.

Not true. They solved their problem by passing along the expense of their radios to the suburbs, by imbeding the added cost into our water bills! :evil:

About two years ago, Detroit started switching from the old MDT's to MDC's. As far as I know, most...if not all...of the old MDT's have been updated to modern MTC's at this point...
