Anyone know or venture to take a guess when the Detroit TRS system is going to be complete and functional?? It seems like we have been waiting an endless age for this thing to matrialize! Oh well just wondering.

My guess is that they'll wait until Monroe county is operational first. The orginal timeline was to have FD and PD online by February, so it could come online any day. Nothing at the moment other than the STA system.

I drove past 3 of the antenna sites over the weekend. 2775 West Warren, 2111 Livernois and 2260 South Fort Street towers are in place. The South Fort Street tower did not have the microwave dishes in place yet.

Well,

It seems that everyone eles comes online rather quickly and we have been waiting for Detroit for almost 2 years know. I just wonder if like everything eles with that city if the politics are to much to handle.

Why doesn't this surprise me? The contractor who did the tower sites in Monroe County had their towers up and ready to go in just a few months. Detroit, however, went with a different contractor and they seem to take forever to get these final sites finished. Hopefully, we can hear the system once it goes live before February gets here.

I know the FD is supposed to move to the new dispatch center sometime next year. They think March to May time frame. I would guess PD would be switching to 800 once they move. All emergency services dispatching and 9-1-1 call takers are supposed to go to the new center on Detroit's west side.

So when you say move to a new dispatch center are you refering to the old train station?? Or a whole new building?

It was an existing building someplace on Lyndon that they are converting to an emergency communications center. I've never been able to find it although I have not tried recently.

I found it :!: The building(s) is on Lyndon opposite Snowden which is about 5 blocks east of Schaeffer. Belle Isle Radio moved about 2 years ago and even though I've driven past the location a couple times I was never sure if it was the right one or not. Hopefully once they are done with construction the move will take place. If they wait for the train depot or whereever they build a new police headquaters we may be waiting another 2 or 3 years.
