Possible improper badge usage by a DPD Division Chief

Denver Police Department Division Chief Eyed In Denver International Airport Security Breach - cbs4denver.com

A major amount of the traffic I hear out at the airport is 'door access' related. Open doors, door alarms, improper door usage, badged employees letting unbadged people through, stuff like that. Anyone know how badges are logged and tracked (magnetic or RFID) when opening a monitored door and is any such electronic log / checkpoint kept at the security stations? Or is it simply a human acknowledging a badge there?

Just curious. Thanks!

Every secured door is opened using a valid airport security badge. In addition, many doors are monitored by video. The system keeps track of badge use. Can't really say much more than that. Except I don't know anything about the story.....
