I just bought a SRH77CA for my Wouxun kg-uv9d. I noticed compared to my RH77CA there is a length difference? The SRH77CA is about 1" longer?? Any comments why? Supposed to be same band coverage.

The antennas are coils of wire wrapped around a flexible center core. Minor differences in the wire diameter can change the number of turns per inch, which changes the total number of turns needed to resonate at a given frequency. If you increase the wrap wire diameter, that decreases the turns per inch, which increases the number of turns needed, which increases the overall length of the wire wrap needed.

??

I get that but why would the same model number antenna with only a different connector be of different length? My original question?

Fortunately, GA
I have both antennas. The BNC model is about an inch shorter than the SMA model. Both bought at HRO. Manufacturing is obviously different for the two.
