The basic question now is how to tell the upgrade which com port to use. Thanks


You said you found that your cable is using com port 8 correct?

Enter that number into the BC VUP software when it asks what com port...

Like I said. The drop down will not accept anything I try to enter.


things to try from here;

exit the BC VUP software and try it again --

Be sure you have the latest BC VUP software and if you had an older version of that, be sure to delete it before installing the new version.

Be sure you have the very latest drivers for the USB cable.

Deleted amd reinstalled. Same issue.


Re boot the computer and try again.. The computer may assign a different com port when re-booted. Check hardware manager again just in case.

Did you have an older version of BC VUP installed?

Do you have the latest drivers for the cable?

Many thanks for all the good ideas. Rebooting did the trick. I thought I wa dead in the water, but no. Again, thanks to all.
