Did I get a skip

Up here in my loft in Middletown, CT using a BC895XLT and RS telescoping whip on a 90 deg. connector I got a message "Palisades Parkway". I think this is eithe NY or NJ. The frequency I think was 160.125 but I cant confirm it as the message was very brief and the scanner started scanning before I could get a real good look at the frequency.

Keep in mind that railroads stretch so far that names aren't always specific to a tiny area.

Yeah I've been there. It's a drag. I try to keep the light on and stay ready to press PAUSE button on the Pro96.

It's possible that you heard skip, though consulting the RR Database and/or WIKI would probably help you decide for sure.
