I was listening t-o 155.3400 which is the HEAR channel, but hopitals use it for internal communications too with a different PL.The normal HEAR PL for Bergen County is 100.0, but the PL I'm getting is 103.5? Can anyone else in the area hear it?

Many years ago, each hospital in Bergen County monitored a different CTCSS tone. This saved ambulances the need to use a radio signaling device if they had the correct CTCSS tone installed.

I know Valley Hospital monitored 192.7 Hz. If I recall correctly, Hackensack used 100.0 Hz and either Englewood or Holy Name used 103.5.

Check an old Scanner Master if you have one handy; all of the CTCSS tones were listed in there.

Some counties use CTCSS to select hospitals instead of DTMF, like specified in the JEMS plan.

Some hospitals use 155.3400 with a different PL for internal operations besides the usual ambulance-to-hosptal stuff. That's what I have been hearing this week.

A hospital on Long Island uses EMS-2 with a PL tone of 67.0 Hz for internal operations. I hear it often down here in Beachwood, NJ.
