463.93750 Market Mall - Has gone digital as far as I can hear. It grinds like hell when I listen to that channel much like it does for police on this pro 97.

Haha I almost got a job there doing security...good thing I didn't, I prefer the field I'm in rather then doing property security/loss prevention again. Can you tell by the by the noise what form of digital transmissions it is? Maybe some time this week I'll swing down there and run Close Call.

The digital is not APCO 25
I strongly suspect it's TDMA digital, don't be surprised if you see the mall using Motorola XPR6500 radios. These are UHF radios that operate in the UHF band in TDMA digital mode.

I heard a few malls in Edmonton are going digital soon, pending IC approval.

There are over a dozen licenses for that freq in the Calgary area. If you could catch the morse-code ID (if it's transmitted) and provide the callsign, it could be matched against the TAFL. It's popular among malls and building maintenance.

I don't think I have ever heard anything but AIR and HAM frequency's output any call sign let alone Morse-code. This noise just started to happen before that I was close enough to the mall to hear the voices of the guards all was good.

This digital noise has been present on 463.9375 for about a month now. Have locked this frequency out of my scanners as it's not much use in listening to noise like that. However, the signal strength along Deathfoot Trail [aka: Deerfoot Trail] is full strength from the airport to Highway 22X. Incidently, CW is transmitted on a number of "business frequencies". Have heard it in VHF, UHF, and 800 mHz frequencies. However, I don't pay any attention to the CW idents. on these frequencies.

they have to ident by law, if you lock on the frequency long enough you will hear it probably a couple of times a day in there somewhere. Some of them are almost burst transmissions of CW, and manage to get the call sign out in less than a second.
